Code of Conduct and Behaviour Policy

  1. Introduction

This policy outlines the standards of behaviour expected from all staff, volunteers, and children participating in any activity organised by Children of God Christian Coaching CIC. The aim is to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

2. Expectations for Staff and Volunteers

All staff and volunteers must:
- Act as positive role models and demonstrate respect, kindness, and integrity.
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
- Avoid any behaviour that could be perceived as inappropriate or compromising.
- Report any concerns or breaches of this policy to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) immediately.
- Promote inclusion and equal opportunities for all children regardless of background or ability.
- Use positive reinforcement and avoid any form of humiliating, degrading, or physical punishment.
- Ensure that all interactions with children are appropriate, non-exploitative, and conducted in a spirit of trust and care.

3. Expectations for Children

Children attending sessions are expected to:
- Show respect to others, including staff, volunteers, and peers.
- Follow instructions and guidelines given by adults.
- Speak and behave in a kind and inclusive manner.
- Refrain from bullying, teasing, or aggressive behaviour.
- Take care of resources and respect the environment where activities take place.
- Tell a trusted adult if they are unhappy or feel unsafe.

4. Professional Boundaries

Maintaining clear professional boundaries is essential. Staff and volunteers must:
- Avoid any behaviour that could be misinterpreted, including physical contact, personal disclosures, or one-to-one private interactions.
- Not engage with children on personal social media or outside of official activities without prior consent and oversight.
- Always work in an open environment where they can be observed by others.

5. Breaches of the Code of Conduct

Any breaches of this policy by staff or volunteers will be investigated and may result in disciplinary action, including termination of the volunteer or employment role. Breaches by children will be addressed in a manner that is supportive, with a focus on guidance and education. Serious or persistent breaches may result in restricted participation or removal from activities. 

6. Review

This Code of Conduct / Behaviour Policy will be reviewed annually or as needed to reflect changes in legislation or organisational practice.
